Getting started with branding

Anita reached out for branding help because she had not had any luck with the previous two designers she worked with. She wanted to collaborate and create a brand identity the truly represented her vision for Sustainaboo.

Brand strategy and design

After working through the brand strategy, it was clear that Anita wanted Sustainaboo to not only sell eco-friendly products but also be an educational resource hub for those in the early stages of their sustainable journey.

It was so much fun listening to her share her own sustainable living journey – I could hear the passion and energy in her voice and she talked about the importance of reducing plastic waste and being more conscious of your buying habits. However, she approached the topic from a place of understanding and openness – no judgement or bullying. That emotion and spirit is what I wanted to capture in her brand identity.

Brand Values: Superior customer experience, integrity, wisdom-seeking, compassion and continuous improvement.

Sustainaboo’s brand personality is a balance of being informative yet expressive, genuine and friendly. When someone experienced the brand, she wants them to feel warmth, curiosity, compassion and inspiration. When they do business with the brand, she wants them to feel connected and proud.

For the visuals, Anita was drawn to that laid-back, California style and pinned a lot of modern serif fonts. To bring the Cali-style to life, I went forward with a modern serif and a half-circle logo mark, to really signify the openness and approachability of the brand.

For the Brand Season, Sustainaboo was so well aligned with the Spring Season. The open, friendly and approachable personality Anita wanted for Sustainaboo was a seamless fit. We brought it even more to life with the fun, bright color palette and multi-colored logo mark brand pattern.
